Oi You! Competition Rules & Regulation
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY: The Oi You! Competition begins at 12:00:01 AM (NZ Local Time) on February 14 2100 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (NZ Local Time) on May 16, 2011 (the “Competition Period”).
ELIGIBILITY: The Competition is open to all residents of New Zealand who are not employees of Oi You!, its affiliated companies or agents, their respective advertising or promotional agencies, companies providing prizes for this Competition, or a member of any such employee’s immediate family (regardless of where they live) or persons with whom they live(whether related to the employee or not). “Immediate family” includes step/mother, step/father, half/brothers, half/sisters, step/sons, step/daughters, partner or spouse.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION:
Firstly visit www.StreetArt.co.nz/oi-you and ‘Register’ for the Competition – this will enable us to keep in contact with you.
Your work should be either A4 or A3 in size.
Once your work is complete either scan it or photograph, save it as a .jpg file then visit ‘Upload Entry’ area of the Street Art website upload it.
Submissions must be in .jpg format and be no larger than 1 megabyte.
Submissions can be Portrait or Landscape
All Submissions must be received by 11:59:59 PM (NZ Local Time) on May16, 2011 (the “Competition Closing Date”).
ALL SUBMITTED ENTRIES MUST
· be limited to one per person – if collaborating this is classed as your one entry.
· be completed by the entrant/collaboration.
· be submitted only once.
· not contain discriminatory, libellous or other inappropriate content.
· not have been previously published for a commercial audience.
Each Submission satisfying the requirements set out above and submitted in accordance with these rules and regulations will, subject to the discretion of Oi You!, be an eligible entry.
COMPETITION PERIOD: There are six (6) Competition Periods in total.
Period 1: Call for entries – begins at 12:00:01 AM (NZ Local Time) on 14 February 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (NZ Local Time) on 16 May 2011 (the “Competition Period”).
Period 2: Semi-Finalist – Pre selection period – begins at 12:00:01 AM (NZ Local Time) on 13 June 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (NZ Local Time) on 4 July 2011
Period 3: Finalists notified – begins at 12:00:01 AM (NZ Local Time) on 26 July 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (NZ Local Time) on 1 August 2011
Period 4: Finalist Reproduce Work in Large Format Live in Nelson – begins at 12:00:01 AM (NZ Local Time) on 23 September 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (NZ Local Time) on 4 October 2011
Period 5: Final Judging period – begins at 12:00:01 AM (NZ Local Time) on 5 October 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 PM (NZ Local Time) on 23 October 2011
Period 6: Prize Winners will be announced Live at the Oi You! Exhibition and subsequently online – on 24 October 2011. 24 October is the date of the Oi You! Auction where all works will be auctioned with the exception of the Winners and Runners up in both the Youth and Open Sections.
PRIZES:
Winners in both the Youth and Open Sections will receive a limited edition screen-print by Faile – images and full details of these prints will be publicised in due course at www.StreetArt.co.nz
Runners up in both the Youth and Open Section will receive a limited edition screen-print by The Cut Collective – images and full details of these prints will be publicised in due course at www.StreetArt.co.nz
The prizes will be posted/couriered to the winners provided address.
Prizes must be accepted as awarded without substitution and are not transferable or exchangeable, not for resale and have no cash surrender value, except where approved by Oi You! Oi You! reserves the right, in the event that a Prize or any component of a Prize cannot be awarded as described for any reason, to substitute another prize or component of a prize of equal or greater value, without liability.
SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process will be divided into two (2) rounds.
Round 1: The Round 1 selection process will take place between 13 June 2011 and 1 August 2011 (the “Semi finalist Pre selection period”). All the Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges who will select a shortlist of between 30 – 50 Submissions from the Open Section and 30 – 50 from the Youth Section and request that those shortlisted forward the ‘hard copy’ of their submission to a postal address on or before 4 July 2011. Any work not received by this date will be disqualified from the competition.
Between the 4 July 2011 and the 26 July 2011 these Semi-Finalists will be assessed and the Final 40 (20 from the Open Section and 20 from the Youth Section) will be selected.
Between the 26 July 2011 and 1 August 2011 the 40 chosen finalists will be notified.
Round 2: The Round 2 selection process will take place between 23 September 2011 and 23 October 2011 0(the “Final judging period”).
The 40 Finalists will be invited (at their own cost) to come to Nelson between 23 September 2011 and 4 October 2011 to reproduce their submitted work in large format – approximately A2 594mm x 420mm (exact size to be confirmed in due course).
Between 5 October 2011 and 23 October 2011 the panel of judges will select the winner and runner up in both the Youth Section and the Open Section (4 Prize Winners in total).
These winners will be announced both live at the Oi You! Exhibition and on the Street Art website on the 24 October 2011.
AUCTION PROCESS
- All works with the exception of those by the Winners and Runners-Up in both Sections (Youth and Open) will be entered into the Oi You! 2011 Auction to take place on Monday 24th October 2011 (date to be confirmed).
- The work by Winners and Runners-Up in both Sections (Youth and Open) will become the property of Oi You! – these works will be made available to go on a National Tour and enter the Oi You! ‘Hall of Fame’ for use in future exhibitions.
- 70% of the sale price will go to the artist, 30% will be retained by Oi You!
- Artists need to allow 28 days for Oi You! to process Auction payments.
ENTRANT
- The prize availability is restricted to people residing in New Zealand.
- Employees of or contractors to (including sponsors) Oi You! 2011, their advertising agents, subsidiaries and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
- Entries are limited to 1 per person/collaboration, Oi You! 2011 reserves the right to disqualify any entrants for whatever reason including and not restricted to, tampering with the entry process or attempting to act in a fraudulent or dishonest manner.
- Entrants must provide a valid landline or mobile telephone number for Oi You! 2011 to contact them on.
- By entering the competition entrants hereby warrant that all information submitted is true, current and complete.
- Oi You! 2011 reserves the right to verify the eligibility of entrants and disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these terms and conditions.
- In the event that any winning entrant is disqualified from the competition, Oi You! 2011 in its sole discretion may decide whether a replacement should be selected. In this event, any further winning entrant will be selected using the same criteria as the original winning entrant and will be subject to these same terms and conditions.
- By submitting your stories, photos, and other material, by email or through the Oi You! 2011 social media channels, you give permission to Oi You! 2011, and their advertising agents, to use your material on the StreetArt.co.nz website and its associated social media channels. By doing so you also agree that this material can be edited or modified to fit the requirements of the site. Your personal details you have sent us, including address or phone number, will not be shared.
GENERAL
- By entering the Competition, entrants agree to abide by the Official Rules and the decisions of Oi You! and the judges with respect to all aspects of the Competition, which are final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- The winner will be notified directly by email. Inability to contact the person by email within 7 days of selection will result in the prize being forfeited. Should this occur, the Runner-Up will become the Winner and alternate Runner-Up will be selected.
- Oi You! accepts no responsibility for loss, damage, claims, or personal injury (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) suffered by any person arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with entering this competition or claiming, winning, or using a Prize, except as required by law. By entering and accepting a Prize, the winner and his/her parent or legal guardian consents to the use of his/her and parent/legal guardian’s name, address (city and province) and/or photograph, without further remuneration, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of Oi You! with respect to this Competition.
- Oi You! will not be responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete or destroyed entries; all such entries are void. Oi You! will not be liable for any failure of the Competition Website, do not assume any responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry information, technical malfunctions, human or technical error, printing errors, lost, delayed or garbled data or transmissions, omission, interruption, deletion, defect or failures of any telephone or computer lines or networks, computer equipment, software or any combination thereof. Entry material/data that have been tampered with or altered are void. In the event it is determined that an entrant has entered in a fashion not sanctioned by these rules and/or has submitted more than the number of entries permitted by these rules, the entrant will be disqualified and all of the entries submitted by the entrant will be disqualified.
- If, for any reason, the Competition is not capable of running as originally planned, as a result of tampering or infection by computer virus, Oi You! reserves the right to cancel the Competition and conduct a draw from all previously received eligible entries received by the Competition Closing Date. Oi You! shall not be held responsible for any problems, errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Competition, including, but not limited to, any damage to an entrant’s computer equipment, system, software or any combination thereof, as a result of the entrant’s participation in this Competition.
- Oi You! reserves the right to vary any of the terms of entry of this competition, or to modify, suspend, terminate or reschedule this competition at any time.
- If the entrant would like to have their artwork returned to them, it is the entrant’s responsibility to coordinate and pay for the costs of delivery to and from the Oi You! office.
- Oi You! reserves all rights over the 40 images that make the final and to subsequently produce and sell a limited edition print run of no more that 250 of all or any of those 40 images.
- Each entrant grants to Oi You! an exclusive licence to commercially exploit the artwork he or she submitted as part of this competition for a period of two years commencing from the Competition Closing Date. Each entrant to this competition waives his or her moral right to object to the derogatory treatment of their work for the same two year period.
- Oi You! respects your right to privacy. Personal information collected from entrants will only be used by Oi You! to administer the Competition and, only if consent is given at the time of entry, to provide the entrants with information regarding upcoming promotions and/or events and/or opportunities to support Oi You! projects.
- By entering the Competition entrants accept all of the Terms and Conditions stated above.
