Semi-Finalists Notified

Congratulations to all of those who made it into the semi-final of the Oi You! 2011 Competition and commiserations to those who missed out.

An email has now been sent to all those who’ll be progressing.

As I’m sure you can imagine the standard was red hot and the people fortunate enough to get through this round now have the opportunity have their work presented to Faile who’ll then decide the final 20 in each Section.

Thanks to everyone who took part we had a fabulous response with more that 300 people taking part across the two Sections.

Good to luck to all those lucky enough to get through.

We’ve quite for a few weeks but we’ve not been dormant.

An invitation has just gone out to every high school and university in the country inviting them to take part in the Oi You! 2011 Competition.

Register now and get busy!

To handle all of the additional traffic and the registration and submission process we totally rebuilt the website – it’s shiny, it’s new and it’s announcing the Oi You! 2011 Exhibition – the biggest Urban Art Exhibition ever to be seen in NZ.

Starring loads of stuff from the man himself – Banksy.

Have a good look around and give us your feedback.

Oi You! 2010 – The Movie

Against a backdrop of classic Urban Art installations the 20 finalists, 10 from the Youth Section and 10 from the Open Section, of the Oi You! 2010 Urban Art Compitition were invited to recreate their submissions on large MDF panels….and Nelson loved it!

Oi You! on Facebook

Oi You! is now on Facebook – we have uploaded a whole heap of pictures of Oi You! 2010 onto the Facebook page and there’s even a small video clip with another larger one to follow very soon.

Kindly Te Radar waived his appearance fee and in response Oi You! upped the amount going to the artists from 80% to 100% of the hammer price.

More on the auction an lots of photos to follow after the final day of the show tomorrow, holiday Monday.

Oi You! The Auction

All the 20 finalists pictures are now finished, framed and up in place!

The quality of the work is simply stunning (see below), so if you’re after an art bargain come on down to Founders Park, Nelson tomorrow at 6pm have a drink, pick your favourite and prepare to bid (auction starts at about  7.15pm).

The human Powerstaion Te Radar is running the auction so if nothing else it’ll be entertaining!

Oi You! It's Nearly Here

Oi You! 2010 is getting really close, the venue’s taking shape and we have an awesome weekend to look forward to.

This weekend October 16th & 17th is ‘Artists in Action’ when the majority of the finalists will be down at Founders creating their work ready for installation.

To set off what the artists are doing we’re working all hours to create an amazing backdrop for the event. This includes a whole heap of installations with massive Urban Art images and even a painted car!?

We also have some fantastic news; Chris Finlayson, the guy who painted the brilliant Aotearoa mural at Wakefield Quay, is coming along to create a installation of his own and to lend a hand to the younger artists.

So come on down; if you’re feeling inspired there’s a Scrawl Wall for you to create your own masterpiece or simply have a mooch, see art show that’s a bit different for Nelson and soak up the atmosphere.
